Emerging Economies Membership Subsidy Program (EEMSP)

The Solid-State Circuits Society has a program for its chapters called the "Emerging Economies Membership Subsidy Program" (EEMSP), which complements the IEEE Minimum Income Special Considerations Option and provides a significant additional benefit for qualified individuals. The SSCS Emerging Economies Membership Subsidy Program is also an extremely good means to help facilitate the launching of new chapters in low income geographical areas.

IEEE Minimum Income Special Considerations Option
IEEE policy currently allows a 50% discount on IEEE dues, plus one society membership, for any individual whose annual salary is less than US $12,300. This offering is referred to as the "Minimum Income Special Considerations Option."

EEMSP Policy
The SSCS Emerging Economies Membership Subsidy Program will pay the remaining 50% of the IEEE and SSCS dues for two consecutive years for new members who qualify for the IEEE Minimum Income Special Considerations Option, including those who are unemployed. Likewise, the SSCS Emerging Economies Membership Subsidy Program will pay the full amount for new students for two consecutive years, since they are not subsidized by the IEEE. Renewing or reinstating SSCS members/students who were not subsidized by EEMSP last year are not eligible.

SSCS will cover up to six (6) members/students in Joint chapters per year, and up to twelve (12) members/students in Single chapters. Although the IEEE Minimum Income Special Considerations Option allows individuals to purchase publication subscriptions for one-society at a 50% reduced rate, the SSCS EEMSP does not cover the payment of publication subscriptions.

How to Apply
A chapter with individuals who qualify for the IEEE Minimum Income Special Considerations Option and the SSCS EEMSP simply needs to submit their names by email to Katherine Olstein, SSCS Administrator (k.olstein@ieee.org), who will forward them to the appropriate IEEE unit for authorization. Alternatively, a chapter may collect IEEE/SSCS membership applications from each of the individuals who wish to participate in the program and send them to Katherine Olstein at the SSCS Executive Office.

For questions concerning the program, you may contact her by email at the address given above.
