The IEEE annually recognizes outstanding contributors worldwide to the art and science of electro- and information technologies with technical awards in 3 dozen technical specialities.
The SSCS Awards Committee supports the process by encouraging quality nominations and substantive endorsements from qualified peers.
|
The SSCS Awards committee encourages member suggestions for these awards nominations. Any person may nominate a candidate for an IEEE medal or award, but self-nomination is not allowed. The actual recipient selection is administered through the Technical Field Awards Council of the IEEE Awards Board. Do you have possible nominees for the prestigious IEEE Technical Field Awards?
Here are six additional of these institute-wide awards in the field of Solid-State Circuits that are especially important. For 2009 this nomination work is completed in Janaury of 2008.
The Kiyo Tomiyasu Award for contributions to technologies holding the promise of innovative applications during the early to mid-career of an individual(s) or team: presented for the first time in 2002.
The Cledo Brunetti Award for outstanding contributions in miniaturization in the electronic arts. Certificate and cash prize.
The Morris N. Liebmann Memorial Award for important contribution to emerging technologies recognized within recent years to an individual or team of not more than three. Certificate and cash prize.
The Frederik Philips Award for outstanding accomplishments in the management of R&D resulting in effective innovation to an individual or team of not more than three. Bronze medal, certificate, and cash prize.
The David Sarnoff Award for outstanding contribution in electronics. Preference given to an individual for achievement in the past 10 years; may be presented to a team of not more than three. Bronze medal, certificate and cash prize.
The IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal for outstanding contributions to material and device science technology, including practical application. The award consists of a gold medal, bronze replica, certificate and cash honorarium. Presented for the first time in 2004.
It is acceptable to nominate an individual or team for more than one TFA for the same work (if the work falls within the scope of the respective TFAs). However, the nominee(s) cannot receive more than one TFA for the same work. A complete list of IEEE Technical Field Awards is available on the IEEE Web site: www.ieee.org/about/awards/tfalist.htm. The SSCS Awards Committee welcomes suggestions for nominations for any or all of these awards. Any person may nominate a candidate for an IEEE medal or award; self-nomination, however, is not allowed. The SSCS Awards Committee will help in the nomination process and will undertake finding appropriate nominators if necessary; the Committee can be contacted through the Chair.
The nomination process consists of the nomination itself, letters from 3 to 5 endorsers, and a letter from the President or designee of the Society in the nominee's field. Instructions for the nominator, guidelines, and award criteria are available at http://www.ieee.org/about/awards/guidelines/mdltfaguide.htm.
The nomination forms can be filled in online or downloaded in a variety of word-processing formats. See the complete list of awards for links to the forms and the list of past recipients. http://www.ieee.org/about/awards/tfalist.htm
